Ok this isn't really a ghost story per say, but it does have a haunted theme in a way. It's just something I've learned to call my "I Know" (long story there, I'll share later if anyone's interested.)
My husband and me have been together 10 years and married for 9. We originally lived in his house, a little 1 bedroom that was way to crowded for 4 of us (I have 2 boys, although my oldest didn't live with us at the time) so we needed a new house.
We had been trying to find one in the town we were living in but there really wasn't any available so we started looking in the surrounding towns. And so we came to the town we now live in to look at a home that was listed in the paper.
I had never been to this town and really hadn't even heard of it (and once we got here I knew why, it's very small and basically has nothing) We went to the house and upon arriving learned that the house was sold the day before, needless to say we were getting a little frustrated.
As we were getting ready to head back out to the highway we spotted to small house that had a for sale sign, so we decided it couldn't hurt to look. It didn't look very big but looks can be decieving, so my husband pulled into the driveway and got out to see if anyone was there.
I stayed in the car and waited, then from what sounded like across the street or maybe the house next door I heard a woman say "hello". I really thought nothing of it, thinking that maybe a neighbor was responsible for answering any questions about the house in question.
I turned around expecting to see a her coming towards us but instead nobody was there, but the house directly behind me caught my eye. Then I heard the "hello" again, but I'm still not seeing anyone and I'm thinking I wish he'd hurry up and get back to the car (cause I'm thinking I'm losing it). Then I heard the same voice say "here, over here, this is home" and again still I'm seeing no one.
I admit I've done some weird things in my life, I always have, and I do on occasion tend to see, sense or know things but this was kind of a first. About this time my husband got back in the car after getting all the information off the sign in the window. And I must of had a strange look on my face because he asked what was wrong.
Not really giving it much thought I just told him "oh nothing, I just think I'm suppossed to tell you the house behind us is home" He looked at me and then at the house across the street and then he kind of laughed and said "well then you better tell the people living in it they have to move" But as we pulled away to head home I heard the same voice again and it said "1 year" and so I answered basically to myself "ok"
After we got home that night I told him about the strange occurence I'd had while waiting in the car, and how I had never had anything quite so strange as that happen. I basically told him that I felt like I was being told that the house wanted us there and was trying to tell me. (ok I know thats weird, but I didn't know any other way to explain it...I'd never experienced this type of "knowing" before) but then we went about our normal routines.
It was like 3 weeks later and as I was getting the paper out of the mail the section for houses for sale slipped out from the center and landed on the steps by my feet. I picked it up and there on the front page was that house. Cold chills aren't exactly the right words to explain what I got at seeing that, it was more like freeze chills and I was covered in goose bumps.
When my husband got home I handed him the paper and told him that "our home" was for sale to which he replied "oh are your ghost talking to you again?" (he doesn't dought me often, but this was really far fetched)
So I told him "maybe" and handed him the paper. I wish I'd had a camera so I could have got a picture of the look on his face. So after he read the paper he told me to go ahead and call to set up an appt. to see it.
(I never told him I already had, I'd been dreaming about the house basically since the first time I saw it..and already knew how it would look.) So we went to see the house and it was just what we were looking for so we decided to make the bid. The whole time we were in seeing the house I felt at peace, and I knew this was the house. This was our home.
Well between the different things that go along with buying houses , estimates, bids and counter bids, appraisals ect. there was alot to do and a couple of times my husband said he was thinking we wouldn't get the house. I on the other hand was sure we would and I finally told him "we'll get it, it's ours... but she told me 1 year" He looked at me and asked what I meant?
I reminded him of the first time we'd seen the house while we were there looking at the other one and about the woman who had talked to me. I told him she had told me "1 year" as we were leaving, and that I knew it was ours. Well to make a long story short...we moved into our house almost exactly 1 year to the day after first seeing it. And we've been here since then.
I'm sure your wondering if I've ever had any other experiences with our house, and the answer to that is "YES" I've had several things occure here, but those will have to be told in another story.
