I'm not going to promise anything, but last night I sent an email to the people who are suppossed to be the current owners of the Gaylord Mansion.
If so as soon as I get a reply letting me know for sure it is them, then I will be talking to them about getting permission to do an investigation at the place.
So cross your fingers that the information I have is right and that they will contact me and agree to let us go in.
UPDATE, I have just spoken with the owners of this residence. ALL of these stories are untrue. The original Gaylord Family who owned and built the house passed away and their 2 children also passed away as single adults (never married and no children ect.)
The home sat vacant until another lady purchased the home, she lived in it for approximately 10 years then moved and the home was sold to another gentleman. Who was a pack rat of sorts, he attended several auctions and constantly carried things into the home to sit and accumulate.
This may explain the stories of the "original family" running off and leaving everything behind, as this man is said to have let this house fall into disrepair and left it's upkeep to dwindle, causing what most of us know seems to be what generates the stories of ghost and hauntings.
After this gentleman left the home and had allowed it to fall to shambles, the new couple bought it later and they have done what they can to begin restoring it and repairing it, to possibly become their home at a later time. But she does state that she has all of the hoimes history on deeds and abstracts.
So all of these stories are exactly that, stories that local teens have created. So I'll ask that this Team do what they can to help dispell any rumors heard in reguards to the house, and also other members of this board as well to please also help debunk these stories if you hear them.
If you happen to frequent any sites with the Gaylord Mansion listed on them please notify the board admin and ask them to remove the information as requested by the home owners.
I have only seen photos of this house, but I know if we can debunk these stories, it will help the owners prevent any further vandalism and they will be very much appreciative of the action. So lets help them get it done, guys what do you say?
Thanks everyone, and a special Thank you to the home owners who took their time to share the history.
