The day before I joined this board, I was searching newsgroups with Outlook Express on my computer and talked with a gal in Minnesota and started making plans to meet and investigate a cemetery in north Iowa/south Minnesota called loon lake cemetery. heres a link to a website for loon lake www.prairieghosts.com/loon.html Anyway, plans are set forth to meet this friday, she wants to go while theres still daylight and see if theres anything of interest on the way. I want to know if Mysti or anyone else here would want to join me on this trip and investigate with me, if we cant leave til dark then that should be ok but Id have to contact the person i planned on going with. I dont have much gas money so i thought if we could meet somewhere close to where im at then carpool together then that would be great. Let me know your thoughts and if youd like to come along

Would that be on the 23rd and if so what time had you originally planed on meeting with her? I'm ALWAYS interested in Investigations LOL. I'd be glad to go along depending on schedules, I have daycare kid here until about 4:30 Friday unless his mom is off work then. But if you needed to leave earlier then I'm not sure how that would work. I'll see how things work and we can go from there. And maybe some of the other team members will have an input to.

Have you heard back from the lady and if so what was the plan? Did she have a certain time she'd like to meet? If we meet in Mason City, what do you think the it will cost to fill your vehicle for the trip up to Minn. and back to Mason if it's split 3 or 4 ways? Any idea?

I dont know why the email address i gave you didnt work, its the one ive beeb replying to and getting replies from, its a google email account and ive heard that google snips part of the email address to avoid spam, must be what happened, i got an email from her today saying since the cemetery has been there for decades that waiting a littlew longer to go wont matter much so i assume shes not going anymore anyway.

I was looking forward to going, but it happens sometimes. Theres always a reason for everything so we'll just take it as a sign and plan on trying another time.

I've been to the Loon Lake Cemetery before. It is located approx. 9 miles north of Spirit Lake, Ia., or southwest of Jackson, Mn.. It sits just east of a Campground Facility on the southeast shore of Loon Lake. You have to actually enter the campground facility and park your vehicle there, to find the long trail that leads to the Cemetery. Admittance isn't allowed after dark. The path weaves it's way through tall prairie grass. The path is littered with broken beer bottles, so be careful. The area is rumored to be quite thick with Ticks! That's why I chose to go in the early spring before the critters became active. The cemetery is small, and poorly maintained. It is largerly overgrown by low hanging tree branches, which leads to the terror of being grabbed at... by unseen forces. Supposedly the Urban Legend regarding this cemetery is that a witch was buried there. I know there's more to the story, but I can't remember what it is. It is actually a quaint little location for a cemetery, and was probably quite a beautiful spot when it was first chosen. If you ever do go there, I would love to read about your Investigation!
